This elegant 1890s Victorian home is a celebration of beauty and optimal family living after having undergone an extensive renovation.

The renovation plans were a collaborative effort, with architect Rodger Dalling developing the initial concept, and Jo McIntyre of Beautiful Home, further developing the plans and taking them to completion. Owner and landscape architect, Mary-Claire Dalling of Botanica Garden Styling, designed the outdoor areas.

The front garden is beautifully structured with lush greenery and agave plantings that create a lovely contrast against the grey rendered Victorian façade.

The original façade and four front rooms of the house have all been retained and lovingly restored. Inside, the house features a predominantly white-based palette with white plantation shutters and walls, and dark stained Victorian ash flooring in the central hallway flowing out to the rear extension.

The original part of the house features a sitting room and master bedroom with luxurious walk-in wardrobe and ensuite. These rooms contain fireplaces with marble mantelpieces, ceiling roses and grandly proportioned windows. Three further bedrooms, a study and main bathroom are also located off the central hallway.

At the conclusion of the hallway, an expansive light-filled open plan kitchen, living and dining area awaits with leafy garden views beyond. The overall effect is of a contemporary living space with a stylish, yet natural and relaxed feel.

Beautifully selected large modern artworks feature throughout this home adding colour and vibrancy. In particular, artwork by Rosetta Santucci, Euan Heng and Carolyn Sroczynski are all featured.

Whilst the wall artwork is stunning, there is something equally special about the use of the garden as ‘art’ in this home. The changing seasons provide perpetually changing artwork through the large picture windows in the rear extension.

It is therefore unsurprising that the owners list the vantage from the sofa as their favourite place in their newly renovated home. It is perfectly positioned to admire views of the cascading Boston ivy, majestic ‘teddy bear’ magnolias, and a vibrant autumn blaze maple.

The kitchen showcases stunning Calacutta marble splashbacks and elegant pale grey Caravaggio pendants hang over the dining table. The kitchen includes every modern convenience, including a butler’s pantry and cellar complete with glamorous copper pendant lighting.

One of the highlights of this beautiful family home is the expansive undercover outdoor entertaining area complete with stylish rugs and furniture. You’ve got the comforts of indoors, whilst being amongst the greenery and fresh air.

The rear and side gardens tick many boxes. They feature a saltwater pool with spa that ensures its use beyond the summer months, a turfed area for growing kids to play basketball, and a cleverly conceived vegetable garden.

This superbly renovated home exemplifies a flawless marriage of historic elegance, contemporary refinement and outdoor living perfection.
