This beautifully renovated Victorian home is a masterpiece in both style and function, which is evident from the moment you set foot into the lush symmetrical front garden.

Renowned landscape architect Mary-Claire Dalling of Botanica Garden Styling has designed a garden for all seasons, with a careful selection of plants that bloom throughout the year. A border of Little Gem magnolias offers privacy from neighbouring properties, while delicate daphne flowers provide a burst of fragrance.

Pink roses - both climbing Pierre de Ronsard and Seduction shrub varieties - frame the edge of the verandah, and the grand archway at the home's side entrance is enhanced by climbing star jasmine. The practical option of low-maintenance turf is the perfect choice for this busy family of five.

The exterior colour scheme is a classic combination of Dulux Paving Stone with trims in Natural White and Monument.

The owners' brief to Jo McIntyre of Beautiful Home was to design a liveable family home with a seamless flow from old to new - and upon entering the home, the success of this renovation is immediately evident. This stunning home showcases the very best of practical contemporary living, blended with all the prized hallmarks of a traditional Victorian, including soaring 3.8 metre ceilings, marble fireplaces, wide cornices with ornate ceiling roses, and high skirting boards.

McIntyre's highly functional design was brought to life by skilful builders Devlin Mees, and the home's finishing touches were thoughtfully styled by interior designer Caroline Touzeau.

Dulux Natural White is used on most internal walls, which works perfectly with the dark stain of the Tasmanian Oak floorboards. This much-loved white also provides the ideal backdrop for a vibrant artwork collection. Hydronic heating is a feature throughout.

From the main entrance, double doors on the right lead to a grown-up living space, appropriately painted in Dulux Tranquil Retreat. The beautiful duck-egg blue tones of the occasional chairs from Jardan and Herman & Herman complete the space.

The same restful shades of grey, white and blue continue throughout the master bedroom, which includes a vast walk-in robe and sumptuous ensuite bathroom. Custom-made built-in cabinetry houses an extensive book collection, and carefully curated pieces from Frey homewares personalise the space. A distinctive handcrafted wall hanging was sourced from @roundnine9 on Instagram.

As you continue down the spacious hallway, you'll pass the study on your left. This functional space houses a valuable family heirloom - an original Remington typewriter, used by the owner's great-grandfather, one of Australia's first long-range meteorologists, to submit his weather forecasts to the newspaper.

Further on your left is the children's play room, a practical necessity in any family home. A stunning pendant light from Boyd Blue in Armadale adds just the right touch of style to this child-friendly zone.

Opposite the play room is the epitome of sophisticated living - a climate-controlled wine room that houses an impressive 1500 bottles of wine.

At the rear of the home is the enviable kitchen/living/dining area, with views out to the garden and the 17m lap pool beyond. A winning combination of abundant light, comfortable stylish furniture and seamless indoor/outdoor living provides a space that works equally well for relaxing as a family or entertaining larger groups.

Attractive pendant lights from Boyd Blue help to define the dining space, as does the well-proportioned dining table from Jardan. The living room is home to a Jetmaster gas log fireplace and an eye-catching series of artworks by artists Cathy Quinn, Rosetta Santucci and Jade Piltz.

In the kitchen, Caesarstone kitchen benches are both stylish and hard-wearing, and the white cabinetry contrasts beautifully with the striking timber laminate. But the best part of this family work-zone is hidden from view.

Beyond the kitchen is the practical butler's pantry, an enviable laundry with a drying room and finally a powder room. If you look closely, you'll notice a cat flap, which leads out to the custom-designed cat enclosure: this ideal solution keeps the beloved family pets away from busy Power Street.

Upstairs is the relaxed children's zone, with three distinctly styled bedrooms featuring artwork by Jade Piltz, a generous communal area and a smart compartmentalised bathroom to cater for the needs of future teenagers. A laundry chute provides quick access to the downstairs powder room. All bedrooms feature built-in robes and practical plantation shutters.
