Afternoon Tea

For some people Open Houses is all about visiting truly unique and interesting houses in the Hawthorn and Kew area, while for other regular attendees of the event the true highlight is the afternoon tea. Rumour has it that some people just settle in for afternoon tea and don't even visit the houses!

Complementary afternoon tea will again be served at the St Joseph's Primary School, in the Multi Purpose Room, near the school oval. Just follow the crowds and make sure you don't lose your afternoon tea coupon attached to your ticket.

This year patrons will again be able to feast on fantastic scones provided by Chimmy's Bakery. People familiar with Chimmy's Bridge Road Bakery should make sure they pay a visit to their relatively new Convent Bakery at the historic Abbottsford's Convent site.

School families have also been busy again perfecting their muffin recipes in the lead up to this years Open Houses event. Make sure to ask for some extra chocolate or orange muffins to take home as this is definitely only a once a year opportunity.

Patrons looking for gluten-free alternatives will also be well catered for with a selection of treats from Silly Yaks, the home of fine gluten-free food.

A great many other well known businesses have also very generously helped to make the 2007 Open Houses afternoon tea possible including: Bakers Delight - Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn; Devondale, Renaissance IGA- Glenferrie Road, Hawthorn; Toscanos at Victoria Gardens, T2, Visy and Waverley Party Hire.

For patrons who can't wait until next year's event, please call into our afternoon teas sponsors regularly for all your afternoon tea needs and make sure you tell how much you loved the afternoon tea at Open Houses.
