Open Houses 2011

Welcome to open houses for 2011.

Sign-up here to receive information about St Joseph's School Open Houses program.

Open Houses was the brainchild of a parent at St Joseph's Primary School Hawthorn in 1979. Conceived as a means of raising funds for the development of a capital works program for the school, it has grown to become our major annual fundraising event, attracting over 1,000 visitors each year. Over the years money raised through Open Houses has enabled the school to establish a comprehensive library, finance a multi-purpose room, purchase play equipment, upgrade outdoor areas and invest in information technology equipment.

Every parent of every one of the 275 children at St Joseph's is involved in the event - whether it be driving a bus, working in the kitchen, baking cup cakes, selling raffle tickets or monitoring a house. The continuing success of Open Houses, now in its 32nd year, is a tribute to the superb community spirit at our small school.

Open Houses would not be possible without the wonderful people who make their houses available to us. Some are St Joseph's families, but many have little connection to the school and their generosity and kindness is truly remarkable. We thank them.

This year we are fortunate to have five unique houses. Not only do they cover a range of architectural periods, but each showcases a very different style and approach to renovation.

We hope you enjoy the houses, and our sumptuous afternoon tea!
