Stevenson St. Studley Park Kew
When it was suggested that that one of the new home owners consider the possibility of a family home in Studley Park Kew, there was an initial reluctance. The reservations evaporated upon seeing the potential of a late 1960's home with 1980's second storey extension.
The energy of the home appealed and the bones of the original home showed promise. Fresh carpets and several cans of white paint later, Studley Park became the new residence for the family.
Three years passed before Amanda was able to convince her husband to have the courage to give her the project of remodelling their family home.
Amanda was confident to design and manage the project with a vision to create a product that would reflect who they are and fulfil the families needs, wants and desires. After much discussion with Amanda's big brother and the builder (Willwood Constructions) a new design was born.
A few of Amanda's criteria were:
- To maintain the wonderful feel of the family home and not change the identity of the home completely
- To have an expansive, durable entertaining area with an indoor/outdoor effect
- A commercial teppanyaki hotplate for Japanese cooking with a large serving bench
- Loads of natural light
- A sunken lounge for those more intimate times
- Last but not least, lots of white and then some more white, including the floor, which creates a fabulous backdrop for their wonderful art collection
Then 12 months of budgets, being on site daily to manage all the trades and deliver donuts to the hungry hoards, shopping and more shopping for all the right fixtures, fittings, furniture and accessories, Amanda's dream was created!
Lesson learnt "Ask the same question 3 times, maybe not in sequence, you're sure to get the answer your looking for".
