From the street, it sits quietly among Hawthorn’s historic neighbours, understated and composed. Step inside and that restraint gives way to revelation: spaces open gradually, shifting from intimate and moody to soaring and sunlit in one fluid architectural exhale. Designed and built by Rossetti Architects, the home is a masterclass in precision and craft. Curves soften corners, doors dissolve into walls, and sliding panels transform the footprint. Nothing feels static; every space is considered, flexible and quietly dynamic.
At its heart, a 5-metre-high north-facing void floods the living zone with natural light. Glass and timber elements slide away to blur the line between indoors and courtyard, creating seamless indoor–outdoor living that changes beautifully throughout the day. Materiality is grounded and refined - polished concrete, silver travertine, warm timber cabinetry and honed stone surfaces. The sculptural kitchen anchors the home, while four bedrooms, two living zones and a private children’s wing provide both connection and retreat. Sustainability is embedded in the design. A repurposed pool now serves as a 30,000-litre stormwater tank, greywater nourishes the gardens, and double glazing, cross-ventilation and high-grade insulation ensure year-round comfort. Innovative yet deeply human, this is a home that adapts gracefully to family life.
