Mid-Century Modern Balwyn Home
This Balwyn home has been renovated remaining true to its Mid-century modern history.
After Fleur Sibbel, co-founder of Zuster furniture, purchased this mid- century home in Balwyn, she noticed signature design elements of the original house that pointed her towards a family connection: rectangular door handles, crown-cut timber, flat roof, timber clad walls and handcrafted built-in furniture. It just so happened that More than 40 years before, her Father Meyer Sibbel had built the original house.
Today the house has been empathetically renovated to highlight its mid-century modern heritage by retaining original cabinetry and timber panelling from the 1970’s and by the curation of ornaments and art that complement the architectural philosophy of the era.
Exciting pieces fill the house, popping with colour and zest as they sit on their dark coloured palette backdrop. Bespoke furniture with texture and movement gives so much life and vibrance to this house. An absolute treat for the senses is on display.
It is a home filled with warmth and life and luxurious furnishings that open on to the most divine garden and pool making the most of uninterrupted indoor and outdoor connections.
This will certainly be one of the highlights for our Open Houses 2023 viewers. This beautiful contemporary Hawthorn home personifies expansive family living.
